Cremators and coffee, what a crazy combination!
Isn’t it strange how very occasionally you get to the end of the week and you think ‘you couldn’t make it up’? Last week was just such an occasion because we started the week by talking about cremators at the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) Learning Convention and Exhibition near Kenilworth and rounded off the week by taking part in The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. All very interesting, all good fun, immensely rewarding, but … you couldn’t make it up.
Let’s begin at the beginning. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday representing Matthews Environmental Solutions at the ICCM Convention were Allison Gunther and Ron Munton. They were there to meet delegates from the crematorium sector and to draw attention to the fact that Matthews is the country’s leading cremator manufacturer. In fact not simply cremators, but also a wide range of cremation equipment, including bespoke designs, customised engineering, installation and maintenance.
Over the three days of the Convention and Exhibition Matthews attracted a great deal of attention and visitors were more than impressed by the state-of-the-art cremators and human cremation equipment, plus of course the unbeatable support service that the company is able to offer.
While they were there, Allison and Ron also took the opportunity to inform crematorium operators and owners about our ability to provide compliant, bespoke pet cremation systems that could very easily provide an additional and expanding income stream.
As if to highlight the excellence of Matthews cremators and cremation equipment, one of the company’s clients, Jennifer Hamilton of Horizon Cremation, whose Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium (the bespoke cremation system was designed, engineered and installed by Matthews) was recently named Best Crematorium in Scotland, was presented with not just one but three awards after the Tuesday evening’s dinner. These were:
- ICCM Diploma with Honours
- Wesley Media Award for Outstanding Service to the Cemetery and Crematorium Service
- The Eickhoff Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Diploma Studies
Then we came to Friday and we were delighted to join thousands of other companies, organisations, associations, clubs and groups in raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support by joining in The world’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Lots of us took a little time off work to enjoy a coffee and cakes and to make our donations to this excellent cause.
The coffee morning was notable for two remarkable reasons. One, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the chance to socialise over coffee and cake … and two; our coffee morning raised over £100 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
