All Novus® human cremation systems are designed with the most advanced flue gas treatment systems to ensure that they meet the standards of all significant international legislation.
At the core of our flue gas treatment systems is an efficient dry gas abatement plant that incorporates a bag or ceramic filter house and storage/feed system for the lime/sodium bicarbonate and activated carbon filter system that is stored in bulk containers or silos adjacent to the gas treatment system.
Gases produced by the cremation process are injected with MATsorb blended reagent. Typically, sodium bicarbonate will effectively neutralise the acid components – including sulphur dioxide and hydrogen chloride. Activated carbon will adsorb any heavy metals and dioxides. MATsorb reagent can be supplied in many variants to correlate with specific requirements thus protecting the system from future changes in legislation.
As an additional safeguard, any dust from the combustion process plus any spent flue chemicals are collected on the abatement plant filters.
Periodically this residue can be released from the filters by compressed air, allowing it to be transported in sealed containers for disposal.
