Plans are in place to consolidate our position as the world’s leading incineration process specialists
Over that past years Matthews Environmental Solutions has developed and grown to become internationally recognised as the world’s leading specialists in incineration process technology and our waste incineration, pet cremation and human cremation systems are now the preferred choice of customers across all seven continents. For the past two years we have been honoured to receive the Pride of Tameside ‘Export Business of the Year’ award. Ensuring that we continue to maintain this market leading position we, together with our parent company – Matthews International Corporation, have confirmed a number of internal changes to our management structure with significant role changes for Managing Director John Schofield and Business Development Manager, Elliott Jones.
Much of the success that we as a company have enjoyed has to be attributed to the many years of hard work, skill and commitment of both John and Karen Schofield. Karen retired last year, but John has continued to not only run the company as Managing Director, but thanks to his unique skills and experience he has also been responsible for many of the technical advancements that have driven our incineration process success.
It has become increasingly obvious, however, that operating in the dual role of MD and ‘Technical Director’ is challenging at best. So, with a view to current and future workloads John has now decided that in order to make the best use of his talents he should step down from his role as MD to concentrate on his technical input.
With immediate effect John will be taking up his new role as Director of Engineering. This will enable him to take overall control of our technical department and will permit him time to share his knowledge and experience with our technical staff.
This move will undoubtedly allow us to best capitalise on all the opportunities that are presented to us – both in the immediate and distant futures.
Of course, this shift in responsibilities leaves a significant gap within the company regarding the role of MD. It has been the subject of many discussions over recent months between the UK team and Matthews International Corporation.
Consequently, it has been agreed that a direct replacement of the MD role is not best suited to the structure of the company and the decision has been made to appoint Elliott Jones as the company’s new Director of Operations.
“We feel at this point a bold, fundamental change in the management structure of the company is essential to our policy for continual development as identified through analysis of our Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. I have worked very closely with John in my time here, becoming ever more exposed to the expansive, and diverse challenges associated with running the business. I’m thrilled that Matthews have recognised my commitment to the business and in turn have made a considerable commitment to my career progression. I have a lot to live up to however I am excited by the challenge and know I have excellent support from John, our formidable UK Team, and from The Matthews International Corporation.”
Elliott Jones – Director of Operations
We are certain that these two important changes in our management structure will produce many significant benefits for the future growth and wellbeing of the company. It will help to ensure that we retain our position as the world’s leading incineration process specialists today, tomorrow and for the future.
