Global spread has placed even greater emphasis on medical waste management
You just cannot avoid the headlines about coronavirus (the virus that is the cause of the potentially fatal Covid-19 infection). Stories revealing the inexorable spread of this global pandemic and its relentless international advance are all over the news media and … at the moment there appears to be no respite from its progress around all parts of the world. Cleanliness, care and good personal hygiene are at the heart of all the medical advice we are receiving. Perhaps, however, although not yet highlighted by all the media, is the need for hospitals, clinics and health centres to ensure that they follow the very best medical waste management practices in order to contain and destroy all infected materials.
The British NHS hygiene message to the public is ‘Catch it. Bin it. Kill it’. For medical establishments though, even that sound advice is simply not enough. It is absolutely vital that because of the high volume of potentially infected materials that are generated every day, they should use a recommended and approved waste incinerator in order to ensure that the threat of secondary infection is totally eliminated.
At Matthews Environmental Solutions (MES) we have been designing, manufacturing and installing all types of waste incineration plant for many years and our Surefire® incinerators are now successfully operating across every continent and throughout countless countries all around the world.
Every MES incinerator is designed and built in the UK to comply with the very latest and the most stringent international environmental and safety standards. They range from small self-contained mobile units up to the largest bespoke waste management installations commissioned by major public authorities, substantial industrial concerns and the biggest medical organisations.
The other threat, of course, is that in these modern times it appears that ‘the world has shrunk’ as more and more companies have become truly ‘international’ by exporting their products on a global scale.
Because of the coronavirus crisis many producers, especially in Asia and the Far East, have been forced to temporarily close their factories, while of course many products are still being shipped from infected regions to the rest of the world.
No doubt, in time, the coronavirus crisis will be overcome, but in the meantime it is important that everyone and that includes the public itself, plus international, national and local authorities, companies of every size and by no means least the medical sector, does everything in their power to help halt the spread and the dreadful threat of a viral infection that knows no borders, respects no frontiers and for the moment at least, appears to be unstoppable in its relentless spread around the world.
All we can say is that MES waste incineration and in particular MES medical waste management technology is assisting authorities, companies and medical organisations all around the world in their determined fight to overcome the coronavirus threat.
