Waste incineration is a process that is almost as old as time itself and the burning of unwanted materials has been carried out ever since humans first developed the use of fire. With increased awareness of environmental issues, however, plus the introduction of ever-more rigorous standards and regulations, waste incinerator manufacturers have had to up their game by developing newer and more efficient systems.
For many years the efficiency of a waste incineration plant could be measured by two distinctly different processes.
One was the efficiency with which a wide range of waste materials, including industrial waste, medical and clinical waste, hazardous waste, pet and animal cremation and organic waste could be safely disposed of with maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
The other over-riding requirement was that the emissions created by the incineration process had to be increasingly safe, clean, harmless to the atmosphere and must be totally compliant with the latest world health and environmental standards.
Now though there has emerged a third requirement that is equally important as incineration efficiency and environmental responsibility. It is how, where possible, to provide a level of added value to the process that will enable users to actually generate profit from their waste incineration system.
As world leading waste incinerator manufacturers, at Matthews Environmental solutions we have long been internationally recognised for the outstanding choice of options that are available within our Surefire® and Allburn® ranges. It is thanks to our unique experience and capabilities that we are able to customise any model within our ranges to match a customer’s needs exactly. We also have the ability to design and manufacture bespoke solutions that will resolve even the most complex waste incineration problems.
At Matthews we have developed advanced emissions and flue gas abatement processes that satisfy the most stringent global emission standards, including: EU Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) 2010/75/EU, the EU Waste Incineration Directive (WID) 2007/76/EU and the US Environmental Protection Act (EPA).
Helping users to also add profit to their waste incineration processes is something that at Matthews we have also been extremely progressive.
Although it is not possible in every case, by incorporating advanced Energy Recovery Systems into the waste incineration plant we can often provide what is in effect ‘Free Energy’. This can be produced in the form of Steam, Hot Water or Hot Air that in turn may be employed as part of the customer’s industrial process or to heat properties.
We have also been pioneers in developing Energy Generation technology within the waste incineration process that actually enables customers to generate ‘Free Electricity’ either for use on-site or to re-sell at a profit to an off-site electricity grid provider.
So as you can see, Matthews waste incineration is not only an ultra efficient, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable process… where circumstances allow it can also become a substantial profit earner for the customer.
