Weakened Sterling triggers UK incinerators overseas sales surge.
Everyone knows that ever since the Brexit vote in June the pound has been under pressure from foreign currencies. The result has been a weakened Sterling that has produced far more favourable buying conditions for overseas’ purchasers. At Matthews Environmental Solutions we have certainly witnessed the difference that the ‘leave’ vote made and in the months since the referendum we have seen a steady increase both in enquiries and orders from overseas’ buyers for our market leading UK incinerators.
The pleasing thing from our own point of view is that these enquiries are coming from all parts of the world; including Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, the Far East and even from as far away as the Australasian nations.
Let’s be straight about it … at Matthews we have always enjoyed a good overseas trade and a high percentage of the UK incinerators we design and build in our Manchester factory have been destined for export. The Matthews’ reputation for technical innovation, engineering excellence, positive customer service and outstanding value for money has been a constant factor in our worldwide success story. The developments over the past few months however, have definitely increased the interest and demand for our acclaimed range of products that include not only world class waste incinerators, but also the most advanced human cremation and animal cremation technology.
Over recent weeks we have received enquiries for help, technical advice, industry experience … and of course quotations from companies, organisations and authorities based in a number of European countries. The Middle East has also been another region where the favourable exchange rates have prompted a rush of enquiries. We have also supplied UK incinerators to the continent of Africa, Central America and more latterly – Australia.
Often, we have discovered, these customers and potential customers have been thinking seriously about our products for quite some time and now that there is a definite financial benefit to be considered then that has without question been the trigger behind this sales surge.
How long the current situation will continue is anyone’s guess and not even the financial experts can agree on the future outcome. One thing is certain though and that is that Sterling will undoubtedly rally and will once again find its position within the world’s strongest currencies. Will this have a severe effect on our own success? We don’t think so because as everyone knows – quality will always endure and when people demand the best and that means made-in-Britain UK incinerators – they will always include Matthews at the top of their shopping list.
